MyQ has expanded the capabilities of its MyQ X platform with the release of a significant new feature designed to transform how partners and IT teams deploy and manage print queues.
Building on the major upgrades delivered in June 2024, which included a fully redesigned UI that seamlessly streamlines workflows and elevates the entire printing experience, the ability to create custom themes, a new workflow to assign unknown ID cards and improvements for embedded terminal devices – the latest enhancement – Printer Provisioning Profiles – reduces deployment time by as much as 80%.
Mark Asbridge, Head of Product Enablement at MyQ said: “Printer Provisioning Profiles are designed around a simple but powerful principle, ensuring the right print queue for the right person in the right place. The system dynamically assigns print queues based on a user’s location and role. For example, an employee working at head office automatically receives access to the head office printers. A CEO working in their own office will see their dedicated device, but when travelling to another site, that personal queue disappears and is replaced with the appropriate local devices – whether Fujifilm, Kyocera or any other brand.”
According to Asbridge, this is an important upgrade as organisations move away from on premise Active Directory servers and transition to cloud-based environments such as Entra ID and Intune. “In these setups, print queue deployment has traditionally been complex and time consuming. MyQ has addressed this challenge by embedding the new functionality directly into the MyQ Desktop Client (MDC). The MDC already manages authentication and print processes, and now also handles automated, location aware print queue delivery through a single unified application.”
While the new feature delivers clear benefits for end-users, MyQ has also focused heavily on simplifying life for channel partners. Many partners deploy similar driver sets, configurations and profiles across multiple customer environments. Printer Provisioning Profiles allow them to import and export not only driver sets and configurations, but entire profiles. For large installations, partners can prepare a CSV file containing all queue names, parameters and settings, then import hundreds of profiles within seconds.
The system supports all OEM brands, enabling any driver with any configuration for any location to be quickly imported. This flexibility reduces deployment time, cuts IT overheads, and eliminates the need for end-users to call support because they cannot find the correct printer.
For organisations, the benefits extend beyond efficiency. Automated provisioning enhances security, reduces helpdesk tickets, and ensures consistent, policy-driven print behaviour across all sites. For channel partners, the new functionality represents an upsell opportunity. MyQ includes two profiles with perpetual licences and five with subscription licences, with additional profiles available through the new licensing module.
