Brother launches new flagship laser range

Brother UK has launched a new flagship A4 colour laser range designed to help partners expand colour printing opportunities for small and medium-sized organisations, simplify service delivery and grow their managed print business

The new L8000 series replaces the existing colour laser line-up and brings improved performance, lower total cost of ownership and easier fleet management for resellers serving SMB customers.

The new range consists of five devices – the HL-L8430CDW, HL‑L8570CDW, DCP-L8360CDW, MFC‑L8730CDW and MFC-L8970CDW. Each model is around 30% smaller in volume than its predecessor, making them easier to position in space- constrained offices. A more modular design also introduces additional user- replaceable components, including the fuser unit and paper feed kit. This shift reduces service interruptions, extends device life and lowers maintenance costs, giving customers greater confidence that their printers will keep working without unnecessary downtime.

Liam Fitzgerald, Head of Sales Commercial Channels at Brother UK, said the SMB segment is a major strategic focus for the business. “SMB is a key product category within the market, and we’re pretty strong in this space. We saw an increase in market share across all of our SMB colour laser products last year and an increase in unit growth, particularly in the all-in- one segment. It’s a highly competitive, price-aggressive area, but we exited last year with over 20% share, and we expect that to continue to grow with this new product range.”

Designed for modern SMB workflows

The new devices deliver improved colour accuracy for higher quality documents, presentations and proposals, while built-in security features help reduce the risk of device- level data breaches. Print speeds of up to 31 pages per minute and support for multiple paper trays allow teams to turn around jobs quickly and maintain productivity during busy periods.

Enhancements to colour processing and engine design also help deliver cleaner output with reduced banding and lower operating noise. Higher-yield supplies and simplified remote management tools give partners more efficient ways to manage fleets, reduce service calls and maintain predictable performance across customer sites.

Dave Riley, Senior Product Specialist at Brother International Europe, said the redesign reflects how SMBs now work. “A lot has changed from the previous engine. These new products are 30% smaller, and they’ve been developed around four key pillars – usability, responsiveness, security readiness and sustainability.”

Sustainability built-in

The streamlined line-up of five devices replaces a broader legacy range, with Brother focusing on real-world usage patterns and the needs of SMB teams. Sustainability has been a major consideration in the development of the new range. Devices incorporate up to 19% post-consumer recycled plastics and deliver around 31% lower energy consumption compared with the previous generation.

A major development is the introduction of user-replaceable components. “That’s another big thing,” Riley added. “The fuser unit is now user-replaceable, which is a first for us. We’re looking at how our machines can stay compliant in the market, and the environmental message is linked to that too.”

Customers on managed print service contracts can also return toner cartridges to Brother free of charge for remanufacturing. Fully recyclable moulded-pulp packaging replaces expanded polystyrene, helping reduce waste and CO₂ emissions across the product lifecycle.

Strengthening channel opportunity

Brother expects the new range to help partners grow their presence in the SMB market, particularly among smaller resellers. “The channel partners we’re really targeting are the small to medium resellers, where we see an opportunity to increase our reach and growth,” Fitzgerald said.

“We’ve maintained a strong trading account base across single-function and all-in-one devices over the last year, and that’s where we see ourselves continuing to make an impact. We are also looking to onboard new partners and to date we have over 50 new partners signed up as part of our partner recruitment strategy.”

As part of this strategy, Brother has also introduced an exclusive product for partners. The MFC-EX570 is a closed channel product,” Riley explained. “It features a lower cost-per-page, with 10k colour and mono toner included and integrated solutions. Those are the key differentiators from the standard range.”

Fitzgerald added that the exclusive models will help partners differentiate and win new business. “We are looking to increase trade accounts, particularly pushing the all-in-one message with the exclusive products and as we go up the range, we expect them to feature more in managed print contracts.”

Robust security

Security has been a major focus in the development of the new engine. Riley said Brother’s approach is built around a triple layer, secure-by-design philosophy covering hardware, network and document workflows. “We’re making it easier for the devices to be integrated as an endpoint in managed environments and less risky when integrated. No IT environment is perfect, there’s always risk, but we try to minimise that risk.”

Brother devices do not include hard drives, reducing the risk of persistent data storage. Security features include signed firmware, secure boot, intrusion detection, non-persistent memory, modern encrypted communication protocols such as HTTPS and TLS, access control, and NFC authentication as standard. Secure print and secure scan release help protect sensitive documents, while tamper-proof keys and unique certificates support secure cloud connectivity.

“These machines talk to the cloud a lot,” Riley said. “That’s another overhead the new models can now handle much better than the legacy engine, especially in managed print environments.”

Fitzgerald said all of these factors are increasingly important to customers. “While print speed and resolution matter, it’s mobile and cloud connectivity, intuitive usability, lower energy consumption and sustainable packaging that really fit modern workspaces. It’s no longer a standalone decision; print has to fit into the total workspace experience.”

Built for all flavours of MPS

The new range has been designed to be included in all of Brother’s MPS offerings from simple subscriptions to full- service contracts. “We have something for everyone within that space,” Riley said. “There’s flexibility for those who don’t want to commit and for those who do.

These are much higher-yield consumables than the previous range, WHAT’S NEW and customers can rely on predictable performance and simpler maintenance. All of this folds into the managed print ethos of avoiding service complexity for both customer and vendor.”

Specifications and functionality

With the launch of the L8000 series, Brother’s full colour laser line-up for SMBs is now fully refreshed. Each model has been developed to offer different capabilities depending on the needs of the workplace.

HL-L8430CDW – A compact single-function printer for smaller offices or shared workspaces. Simple, secure and reliable, with NFC tap-to-print.

HL-L8570CDW – Designed for higher print volumes, with more in-box toner and expanded paper handling for fewer interruptions and lower run cost over time.

DCP-L8360CDW – Adds scan and copy functionality with a large automatic document feeder to reduce manual admin.

MFC-L8730CDW – Ideal for fast‑paced environments, offering single-sided scan speeds up to 56ipm.

MFC-L8970CDW – The top-of‑the- range model, offers two-sided scanning up to 50ipm and enhanced processing power for complex, high-volume workloads. Partners will also gain access to training, onboarding resources and ready-to-run marketing assets through BrotherZone, helping accelerate early sales momentum.
