Lexmark’s new 9-Series combines versatility, simplicity and sustainability

Lexmark has scaled up and evolved its renowned A4 technology and introduced a new generation of A3 colour printers and multifunction products, that boldly reset the industry standar

The all-new Lexmark-designed 9-Series line-up includes the Lexmark CX963, CX962, CX961, CS963 and CX833 (available in June) and the Lexmark CX951, CX950 and MX953 which are scheduled to be available in Q1 2025. The company is also introducing six new MFPs specifically for its business solutions dealers and authorised solution providers – the Lexmark XC9655, XC9645, XC9635 and XC8355 will be available in June and a further two models – the Lexmark XC9535 and XC9525 are scheduled for release in Q1 2025.

The new 9-Series was unveiled to Lexmark’s EMEA partners from 15 different countries in Frankfurt, and to its UK&I resellers at the company’s new Maidenhead office last month.

The A3 line’s simplicity made a big impression on the attendees. Sam Elphick, Director at Lex Business Equipment said: “It was a pleasure to be invited to Frankfurt by Lexmark for their two-day EMEA Top Partners Event. A select few dealers from across EMEA were selected to be the first to see the unveiling of the new (and incredibly impressive!) 9-Series print devices. We’re excited to introduce the device and its fantastic features to our clients soon.”

Wayne Jones, Managing Director at OES also attended the launch in Frankfurt. He said: “The launch event was very special; it was a pleasure to be in the room with the company’s top partners in one place to learn about the new launch. Lexmark has never manufactured its own A3 before and the fact this new range is built on its A4 technology makes it a really strong offering. They have also really focused on sustainability; the products are built to last and have fewer parts. The standout for me was the effort put into simplifying the user experience, it’s really intuitive. Cloud security is also really strong, and we will be leveraging Lexmark’s cloud services as we continue to migrate more of our customers to cloud print management.”

Paul Thorburn, Managing Director, Tech4 Office Equipment added: “We’ve been a Lexmark partner for three years and the A4 line-up is excellent, however, we’ve always felt there was something missing in the A3 space. That’s up until now, I was looking for three things: a better document feeder, a strong focus on sustainability and competitive cost per copy. The new 9-Series delivers on all three counts. For us, it’s the missing piece and a game-changer, we’re now excited to move forward and further extend our partnership with Lexmark to cover customers’ requirements across the board.

Versatility and simplicity

The new MFP and printer range boasts print speeds from 25ppm to 55ppm, offers an array of accessibility features, a broad range of media size support (A6 to SRA3) and paper weights up to 300gsm, far greater than comparable competitors’ devices, interchangeable paper-handling options, high volume duty cycles, post-print finishing capabilities and professional colour features including PANTONE calibration. 9-Series models are also eSF-capable and support Lexmark’s full line of software solutions.

The series’ intuitive design brings a suite of innovative new functionalities to ensure ease of management – a new flared easy grip front cover provides seamless access to supplies which
can be easily replaced with one hand, users can also apply customisable identification for tray numbering and branding, and paper loading is a breeze, thanks to ergonomically-designed vertical tray handles.

The new devices also feature advanced scanning capabilities that support customers’ digital transformations. Featuring an Intelligent DADF (Intelligent Duplex Automatic Document Feeder) Lexmark 9-Series MFPs enable both sides of a page to be scanned in a single pass, resulting in faster scanning speeds which range from 200 images per minute (ipm) to 240ipm (model dependent).

Additionally, the MFPs incorporate advanced features such as up to 300-page input capacity, multi-feed detection which alerts users when two or more sheets are picked up by the device, and skew detection, which sends an alert when sheets are not positioned properly, ensuring minimal interruptions to workflow.

Intuitive end-user experience

Lexmark has also heavily focused on ensuring an intuitive end-user experience. The new 9-Series features a newly simplified home screen that displays users’ most frequently used workflows – print, copy, scan and fax.

Developers have also redesigned and carefully crafted the landing screens for each app to optimise usability, significantly reduced on- screen applications and introduced advanced functionalities which are discreetly housed within a convenient ‘more settings’ drop-down menu, further enhancing ease-of-use.

The company’s extensive testing has revealed that this revamped layout not only expedites task completion, but also streamlines complex operations, enabling users to achieve more in less time.

Sustainable design

With this new range, Lexmark is delivering on its commitment to sustainable design. Notably, the new series’ total post-consumer recycled (PCR) content is 56% by weight for all base model MFPs and 73% by weight for the line’s base model printer, based on IEEE calculation procedures.

Moreover, all models in the new 9-Series have hundreds of fewer replaceable parts than comparable A3 products, and are built to last, with a long lifespan of 7+ years. Plus, the new devices also benefit from a space- saving, energy-efficient design, further reducing the carbon footprint.

The entire line has received ENERGY STAR certification, the range is also on course to achieve EPEAT certification.

Ease of servicing

One-handed cartridge replacement, magnetic waste toner bottle, and intuitive access to supplies, all help to simplify day-to-day operations, enabling end customers to maintain their fleet and maximise uptime, without having to rely on service call-outs.

Lexmark has also ensured this new range is easy to service for its partners. Fewer and long-lasting replaceable components reduce the likelihood of technical failure as well as minimise
the service time required for repairs and maintenance. And when an on-site service visit is required, technicians will benefit from a range that can be serviced using only two types of screws, requiring fewer tools and enabling faster service, visual cues for maintenance,
as well as easy access (single layer) to serviceable areas. In fact, during testing, it was revealed that experienced technicians can perform the ten most common service actions (even complex tasks), in less than 15 minutes.

The new Lexmark 9-Series embodies Lexmark’s commitment to products, services and solutions that are reliable, durable, cost saving and secure by design.
