New capability broadens the ScanSnap audience and helps resellers open wider document capture conversations
PFU (EMEA) Limited today announced the launch of ScanSnap Camera, a new feature available through the free-to-download ScanSnap Home mobile app that extends the ScanSnap experience beyond dedicated hardware to smartphones, making personal document digitisation more accessible than ever.
The launch comes as PFU celebrates the 25th anniversary of ScanSnap, marking a quarter-century of innovation focused on making digitisation simple, accessible and valuable for everyone.
Designed to enhance the ScanSnap ecosystem, the new ScanSnap Camera enables users to capture documents, receipts, business cards and photos directly from their smartphone, transforming them into clean, searchable and organised digital files in seconds.
Built on the same trusted image-processing technology that underpins ScanSnap scanners, ScanSnap Camera delivers the high-quality results that millions of users worldwide rely on. Automatic capture functionality ensures documents are scanned without the need to press a button, while advanced corrections deliver aligned, professional-quality results.
ScanSnap Camera also reflects the latest evolution of the ScanSnap experience: you no longer need a scanner to scan. Following a simple registration process, users can download the ScanSnap Home mobile app for free and immediately begin digitising everyday paper, anywhere and at any time.
Once captured, documents are automatically converted into searchable PDFs, making them easy to find, edit, manage and share. Users can reorder, rotate or refine their scans before saving, ensuring every file is ready for immediate use. Scanned documents can be saved to the phone or to your cloud service.
Since the launch of the first ScanSnap model in 2001, the brand has been built around a simple promise: you don’t need to understand IT to benefit from digitisation. With one press of the iconic blue button, ScanSnap scanners have enabled paper information to be converted into organised digital files that are easy to find, manage and share.
PFU (EMEA) Limited’s GM Sales Brian Fortune commented, “The ScanSnap Camera app gives our partners a completely new way to engage customers. By making high-quality document capture freely available on a smartphone, we’re helping more people experience the value of digitisation – increasing the accessibility of scanning. Our reseller partners are then perfectly positioned to introduce the wider ScanSnap portfolio for when users need greater speed, volume, reliability or functionality. It’s about creating more conversations, reaching more customers and growing the market together.”
Today’s ScanSnap range offers options for different working styles and document capture needs. The ultra-portable iX100 supports scanning on the move, while the compact iX1300 delivers fast, space-saving productivity. The iX2400 and iX2500 provide powerful desktop performance with minimal setup, while the SV600 is designed for scanning bound materials, books and delicate items. Across the entire range, the plug-and-play experience remains at the heart of ScanSnap: open the box, connect and start scanning instantly.
PFU will mark ScanSnap’s 25th anniversary with a series of activities and initiatives during the coming months, celebrating the brand’s history and highlighting the continuing role of simple digitisation in personal productivity, home administration and small business workflows.
“ScanSnap has always been about removing complexity and making it easy for anyone to digitise their world,” said Yasunari Shimizu, President and CEO of PFU Limited.
“For 25 years, we have continued to evolve the ScanSnap experience while remaining true to the principles on which the brand was built. With ScanSnap Camera, we are extending that simplicity even further, bringing the trusted ScanSnap experience into every user’s pocket and enabling more people to experience its value, completely free.”
